April 23, 2009

Thursday: Since we are basically finished with inventory and cleaning, we are going to get some computers ready for a donation program to low-income families. I'll be showing you how to format good 'ole Windows 98 machines. :)

I brought a computer over to the elementary but the teacher was testing. So I left the computer in the office next to the main desk on a little table. Then I came back and found a sound driver online for Mrs. Holtmeyer's computer. And I picked up a computer from the server room and brought it here in the lab. It's like the only one that actually has xp on it instead of windows 98!

First I went to Mrs. Shanley's room and reinstalled novel on to one of her student pc's, then i installed the HS Office Copier on to the other. Then all I did was work on some web stuff. Nothing to exciting. No problems except that the one I put novel on was slow as hell.

Well first I put Clean Slate on a computer in the lab. Then Mrs. Kempker showed me how to reformatt Windows 98 machine. And we had trouble with one so I had to look up on teh internet how to fix it, and I found out how and it worked. Thats all I did.

I started reformatting one of the windows 98 computers, then it said it needed more memory, but none of the RAM sticks fit...

Today I wrestled with a computer that had that Antivirus 2009 malware on it. I ran the malware bytes program to see if it was there. It wasn't. I checked the Add/Remove Programs list to see if it was there too. It wasn't. Ok so now I can install cleanslate right? "Do you want to restart your computer now?" Sure! Once the restart was done it was back. I ran Malware bytes again and it got rid of it the second time.
