Wednesday: Your final for the semester will be to reformat a pc from start to finish and to include IP addresses, software, printers, antivirus, netsweeper, etc.... I will give each of you a pc on Thursday and it must be done by Monday. I will give you a list of software to include.

Tuesday: Why did no one blog yesterday? When I am gone, I really want you to blog before you leave the class so I can see what has been done and what hasn't. It is our way of communicating and you all aren't communicating. Part of your grade is depending on it! I have two meetings at the Rock today on video equipment and federal reporting. So, all the computers under the whiteboard need reformatting and when they are finished put them on the side by the counter or make a stack in my office. I may leave notes for other things also. Look around.

Monday: I will not be at school today. You all can continue working on reformatting the computers that we took out of the lab. Some of the cd's you may need are in the top right hand drawer of my desk. If I hear of any problems, I'll call. You may text me on my phone or try to call if you need to ask me something. I have to take kids to a couple dr appointments so I'll get back to you if we are busy. Mark the finished pc's in some way so we don't do them twice.

Friday: The shop/music building have been out for 2 days now. It is my goal to get the new switches, fiber transcievers, and patch cables installed and working for them today. You may not see me much because of this. We are starting to reformat the computers that we took out of the lab so that we can placed them elsewhere. I have ordered memory to add to them which should help a lot.

Monday: Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break. I did but of course it went by way too fast. I almost needed to come back to work to get organized again and back on routine. Monday: We are going to catch up on some odds and ends today and I will discuss formatting all the rest of the computers for the HS lab with you. I am helping with a leadership training for some Freshmen and Sophomores all day Tuesday and until 5th hour on Wednesday so I will not be in my office unless we are having a break. You can text me if you have questions. Work on loading software on the PC's on both Tuesday and Wednesday unless I give you other directions.

Wednesday: We are moving the PC's to Mrs. Eggen's room today but not installing until Friday. I have a few other errands that we need to finish up on today also. NOTE: my office 2003 Standard edition Cd is missing. Please look around for it. A soda to the person who finds it. On that note, DO NOT leave any CD's out on the counter at the end of your hour. Everyone needs to return them inside of my office in a neat stack or put them back where they belong. Everyone leaves stuff lying around and then it can't be found. NEATNESS counts!!!

The computers for Mrs. Eggen's room are finished and we will be installing on Friday. Everyone will be going to the MS on Friday. In the meantime, we will be catching up on other projects I've put off.

Monday: I am home with a sick child today. Please work on the 13 computers that we need to set up for Mrs. Eggen. The list of software and IP addresses is on the back table in my office. There are two computers to work on on the counter outside the office and two inside the office. I believe a couple of them only need Smart Notebook which takes a long time to load so Adam start those sometime during your hour and they should be finished when Zach comes in hopefully. If you think a PC is finished, be sure to go down the list and see if everything is there before you take it down and put it in the stack. I will check my e-mail throughout the day and if a teacher needs help, I'll get back on the blog. You can call my cell today if you have any questions. The number should be on the bulletin board or ask the office.

Wednesday: Yes, I am late blogging but I was out of my office most of the day. The installation of switches went ok. I had to undo what I did in the shop because I couldn't hook up the other end of the fiber to a new transciever box, therefore the shop was off-line until I put the old one back on. I'll get it done when I can track down a very tall later and find someone to climb it. I don't like heights. :)

Thursday: I have a sheet of all the printer IP addresses for you to put into your folder. I want everyone to memorize the subnet mask (255.255.0.0), Gateway (10.10.0.254), and the 3 DNS numbers (150.199.8.8, 150.199.1.29, and 150.199. 199.8). I will be asking you these numbers sometime next week--Tuesday or Wednesday. Also know that the 10.10.1.xx numbers are for printers, 10.10.2.xx for teachers, 10.10.3.xx for elementary, 10.10.4.xx for HS, and 10.10.5.xx for MS. If you have questions, be sure to ask.

Tuesday: Welcome back from the holiday weekend. Hope everyone had a great, relaxing weekend. The weather could have been nicer, but at least we are off. I'm trying to catch up from being gone on Friday and I'm sure I'll have something for everyone to do today. Have a good week.

Friday: I was invited to a meeting today at Eugene HS with other technology directors from around the area and I've decided to go. Therefore you won't see me today but when this happens I usually leave a note taped to my monitor or a note here on the blog for what you are supposed to do. I'll do the monitor today until you get used to using the blog all the time. Tuesday: I've finally gotten my state reporting caught up for a little while any way. Now I have to concentrate on some PowerSchool problems and web page stuff. Thursday: As you can see the new computers are in. We are in crunch time to get them loaded and installed before everyone leaves me. :~( Reminder that all book work MUST be to me by Wednesday next week. Also, there will be two essay questions for you to answer on Thursday. I will assign two of the following 6 questions to each person. Not everyone will get the same questions. (I will post #6 after I come up with it.)

1. A teacher’s machine will not connect to the Internet—no pages will display. List all of the things you can check and do to try to get this working.
2. A teacher’s machine will not print to the copy machine in the workroom. List all of the things you can check and do to try to get this working.
3. A teacher has a Novell login screen but he/she cannot get logged in. List all of the things you can check and do to try to get this working.
4. There is no sound on a pc. List all of the things you can check and do to try to get this working.
5. A CD ROM drive will open and spin the CD but it will not read it. List all of the things you can check and do to try to get this working.

I feel like I have failed in getting you all to problem solve to the fullest extent. You need to keep thinking of ways to check connections, or trying to get something to work. There are multiple ways--always and you need to not give up after trying the first thing that comes to your mind. Practice improves this but I would think that you all have had quite a bit by now. keep at it!

Monday: Guess what? I have finally finished the October core data!!! Yea! Many of you have heard me talk about the number of errors I had--started with over 700 and finally whittled them down to none today. What a great way to start the week. Now I just have 2 weeks to write a technology plan. Yuk! I believe we will start working on cleaning computers and inventory very soon. There are 3 buildings to do now and everything has moved around so we need to be very diligent in working on the inventory and updating the machines. Tuesday: hope everyone had a great extra day off. Since I'm blogging late today, I'll tell you what I have done. The printer in the office quit working so I tried resetting it, which I did but it still won't print from anyone's pc. I printed a configuration page and it does not show the IP information and the lights on the network card are not lighting up. My guess is that the network card has gone bad. I also drove into Central MO Distributing to pick up some additional cables to try to get the sound working on the new systems at the MS. I realized with Matt's help that we need a stereo cable run directly from the computer to the LCD in order to get sound out of the computer. I have also answered several questions teachers have sent and messed with some paperwork I have to do. That about sums it up to this time of day.

Monday: Hope everyone had a good weekend. I worked on cub scouts and taxes--not that exciting. I hope to get the computers that came in to the MS and into the lab in the next couple of days. Friday: The week has flown since we had 2 snow days. When I am forgetting to start a blog, someone needs to remind me. Don't forget to work on your chapters and look at the due dates on the bulletin board. We should have our new (refurbished) PC's here today I think. There are 10 coming so we'll be busy next week getting those ready to go.

Monday: Good morning, as of this moment, we don't have a lot going on with requests or problems but that could change any minute. I have handouts for Chapters 4-6 in the networking book so if you haven't gotten one, let me know. These 3 chapters are due before the end of the quarter. We should have 10 computers coming in by Wednesday so that will be something to do at the end of the week. Let it SNOW~!

Friday: Sorry, I've been sporatic at blogging which makes you all even more sporatic. Brian needs to start reminding me 1st hour again. I'm working on some PS issues again today and I need to get back to my state reporting--YUK. It's like having to do a term paper. You put it off and off until it is absolutely necessary to do. My goal is to figure out what is working and what isn't that is laying around my office and then to get parts or get rid of it. So that is really the challenge for you guys. Keep plugging away at them. Have a good weekend.

Wednesday: Forgot to blog this morning because I went directly over to the Elem to work. They are moving 8 classrooms around and we have to hook up all the LCD projectors where the teachers are moving to. Many of the cables are missing and I had to scrounge to find stuff to make it all work. I'm still missing a sound splitter in Mrs. Pragman's room. We will be going back and forth there for another week or so. I have some refurbished PC's coming next Wednesday so that will be more work. We are usually pretty busy.

Trying to get us all back in the habit of blogging again after the Christmas break and rush to get the MS up and running. Things should be slowing down some now. I hope everyone had a relaxing 3-day weekend. This week we are going to figure out what is wrong with all the extra PC's in the office and lab. My goal is to get those working or out of there. Tuesday: I had trouble getting on this again as I forgot my password but it was finally reset and sent to me. Things seem to have gone well on Monday with the technology in the MS. Thank you to all of you for your work in reformatting and setting up so many machines. We still have bits and pieces to do and some machines that we need to see what is wrong with but we will divide and conquer soon. We might even get bored--or you might, I still have plenty of paperwork to do. Please start blogging again every day.
